What are the possible email subscription statuses?

Every project on Noticeable acts as a mailing list where people can subscribe through your project's Newspage, or where you can subscribe people via our API.

When somebody subscribes by email to updates for a given project, the email subscription keeps track of an associated status. The following are the possible statuses that an email address can have:

Hard bounced: A hard-bounce indicates a permanent reason an email cannot be delivered (e.g. the recipient email address doesn't exist). Hard-bounced email addresses are cleaned from your audience automatically and immediately.
Non-subscribed: This status indicates the email address has not been verified (double opt-in). This might because double opt-in is disabled for your Noticeable project, or because the user did not click on the verification button/link in the verification email that was sent. We also sometimes refer to this status as non-verified.
Spam complaint: Spam complaints are reports made by email recipients against emails they don't want in their inbox. Spam complained email addresses are cleaned from your audience automatically and immediately. If complaints exceed industry thresholds, email sending will be suspended on your account.
Subscribed: This status indicates that the email address is currently subscribed to the mailing list and is receiving emails (verified via double opt-in).
Unsubscribed: This status indicates the email address has unsubscribed from the mailing list and will not receive any further emails.

It's important to keep track of email subscription statuses in order to maintain a clean and engaged mailing list. If an email subscription has hard bounced or has unsubscribed, Noticeable will no longer send emails to such an email address.
