Serving content under your own domain

By default, all content is served from the domain noticeable.io. This includes the API, Timeline, and Widget. In some corporate environments with egress traffic filtering, this may be an issue. For this purpose, Noticeable allows serving all content under your own domain or subdomain.

Noticeable Timeline

Timelines are publicly accessible via an URL that includes an opaque identifier. Although this has the benefit to make your timeline unlikely guessable, it makes it hard to remember.

You can customize the URL to a more professional and easy to remember one such as updates.acme.com or acme.news. If you’d like to do so, the setup is as simple as follows:

Open a project from your dashboard.
Select Timeline in the sub-menu.
Enter your custom domain in the dedicated field and save the form.
Follow DNS configuration instructions that appear.

The configuration instructions will ask to add 3 records with your DNS provider:

a CNAME record that is used to check domain ownership
two A records for redirecting traffic to our servers from your custom domain.

The setup is fully automated but may require up to 48 hours due to DNS propagation and SSL certificate generation.

A records are used in order to support apex domains (root domains that do not contain a subdomain part). Besides, A records are faster to resolve than a CNAME since they do not incur an additional level of indirection.

The CNAME record used for domain ownership checking must not be removed after completing the configuration, otherwise, the verification is invalidated within 30 days and your custom domain will stop working.

If you are using Cloudflare to manage your DNS entries, make sure the orange clouded icon is disabled, otherwise entries will not redirect to the right IP addresses and your custom domain configuration will not succeed.

Noticeable Widget

The code snippet for the Widget references the following resource:

https://cdn.noticeable.io/v1/noticeable-widget.js

We support DNS configuration so that resource URLs reference your domain: cdn.noticeable.io is replaced by the custom domain of your choice in the resource URL above.

This configuration is not yet automated. If you are interested, contact us. We will provide a CNAME record to add to your DNS provider in order to verify domain ownership, Then, two A records will be required for enabling the redirection.

Noticeable API

The Noticeable API endpoint is https://api.noticeable.io/graphql. For filtering reasons or branding purposes, you may want to perform requests under your own domain.

We support DNS configuration so that the API URL references your own domain.

This configuration is not yet automated. If you are interested, reach us. We will provide a CNAME record to add on your DNS provider in order to verify domain ownership, Then, two A records will be required for enabling the redirection.

Once done, you can use your custom API URL with the Noticeable Widget as follows:

<noticeable-widget
api-url="https://api.updates.acme.com/graphql"
access-token="YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN"
project-id="YOUR_PROJECT_ID">
</noticeable-widget>
